Elders Meeting Highlights
The Board of Elders met on 22 May 2007 and discussed the following items:
- Confirmation Sunday was discussed with members volunteering to bring special food items for the Fellowship Hour. A special cake will be ordered to honor the confirmands and to say "good-bye" to Christie for the summer.
- Pastor Barbara and Katie Kline shared with us their experiences at the Confirmation Retreat at the Hope Center in New Jersey. Both were impressed with the program and had a great time.
- We reviewed the Congregational Retreat at North Heidelberg Church in May. Although many good ideas were shared that day, our future is still very uncertain. All Elders present felt that something needs to be done very soon whether it be a move to a new location, sharing space with another congregation, or some other option. A Joint Board meeting is now scheduled for June 21st to discuss some options.
- Christie Melby-Gibbons, our Student Intern, will be leading a Moravian Church in Wisconsin during the months of June and July. We wish Christie the best in this learning opportunity. She will return to us in August to lead a special prayer group.
- Wendy Kline reported that she is looking for teachers and helpers for Vacation Bible School. This is scheduled for the week of July 16-20 and will be held in the evening.
- The July 22nd service will include reports from Camp Hope, the Confirmation Retreat, and the Women's Conference. These reports will take the place of the sermon. July 22nd is also the date for the Church Picnic to be held at the home of Bob and Barbara Kies.
- Because there are generally so few if any small children attending worship, the Children’s Sermon will be renamed Youth Chat. This new name will cover all ages of youth from very young to teens.
- The following Sunday Services are being planned:
- Sunday, June 10th -- Everybody's Birthday Party following worship
- Sunday, June 17th -- Father's Day -- Men will lead the service. Pastor Barbara on vacation.
- Sunday, June 24th -- Music Sunday
- Sunday, July 1st -- Brass Menagerie will provide a musical message. Pastor Barbara will be attending the Women's Conference.
- Sunday, July 8th -- John Hus Communion
- Sunday, July 15th -- Youth Group camping weekend.
- Sunday, July 22nd -- Sharing of camp, retreat and Women's Conference experiences. Church Picnic at the home of the Kies.
- Sunday, July 29th -- Memorial Lovefeast
- Sunday, August 5th
- Sunday, August 12th -- Moravian Renewal Communion
- Sunday, August 19th -- Mission Lovefeast
- Sunday, August 26th -- Moravian Music Sunday

Trustees Meeting Highlights
The Board of Trustees met on 14 May 2007 and discussed the following items:
- Receipts for January through April 2007 totaled $31,954.75. Expenses for the same period are $33,887.18. This amount included an Eastern District Executive Board payment made for 2006. So the EDEB is not current and we are really behind in this expense. The Smith Barney investment for the Scholarship funds is doing well.
- A motion was approved to move the Memorial Funds, a CD and the Putnam Fund into managed investment vehicles at Smith Barney Brokerage. Work instructions shall be created by the Trustees and presented to Smith Barney to authorize Smith Barney to manage these funds accordingly.
- Electrical contracting work was done for the 2nd floor daycare area to fix the exit signs. New wires were pulled and fixtures were connected. This brought our building in compliance for safety codes. The bill was approximately $900. This is a large unexpected expense. We will be seeking help to pay this bill.
- The following drafted documents were discussed: Financial Ways to Support the Work of the Church, Cleaning & Maintenance Duties, Practices for Memorial Contributions, Letter of Gratitude, Memorial Card, and Acknowledgement Card. Bryan will update suggested changes and present them to the board.
- The Sexton has requested a raise in pay. This will be reviewed and a meeting will be scheduled with the sexton.
- Bryan, Thurman, Bob, Steve and Dan stayed after the meeting to fix the lights and speaker cabinets in the sanctuary.
- The foosball/hockey game table located in the basement exit stairway may be discarded, per the Daycare. Options are being considered to sell this item.

- The Sunday, June 17th, service will be led by some of the men of the congregation. This is Father's Day and Pastor Barbara will be away on vacation.
