Reading Moravian Church endeavors to assist its members in pursuing education, both in spiritual matters and otherwise. This page provides an overview of the scholarship fund, and provides links to the full charter of the fund and the appplication form.
Irvin Fred Wegelin established this Scholarship Fund in memory of his wife, Caroline Esther (Iobst) Wegelin with an initial investment of $4,000 in February 1986. Since then, we have grown the fund through careful investment and contributions from other generous donors.
The scholarship fund has two thrusts: It will pay up to half of the tuition for those 18 years or younger to attend camp conferences at Camp Hope, in Hope, NJ. It will also provide aid to members in good standing of Reading Moravian Church who are attending an accredited institute of higher education. All awards are made at the discretion of the Board of Trustees of Reading Moravian Church, who serve as the administrators of the fund.
